The reasons for this are Brain Stimulator Method unknown and further research is needed. It is known that smoking can cause a reduction in the blood supply throughout the body and as mentioned earlier strokes and heart disease are all causative factors in the onset of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Smoking also causes oxidative stress (or cell aging) and hence further increases the risks. On the positive side it was thought that smoking had an effect on the brain's neurotransmitters (the chemicals that make it work) preventing them from being broken down as quickly during the process of dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Studies have shown the positive benefits of nicotine (although the studies tend to use nicotine injections) protecting subjects from Alzheimer's as it is believed that nicotine improves the bodies responsiveness to acetylcholine - an important chemical needed for memory formation.
